Knowledge: Best container candles (jar candle) should be

Natural Candle

Using natural soy wax to make scented container candles (jar candle) is better.  Soy wax, derived from soybean oil, burns cleaner and longer than traditional paraffin wax. Soy wax candle natural composition reduces soot, making it a healthier choice for indoor air quality.

Avoid Tunneling & Woodwick Candles

Selecting the right size wick is crucial to avoid tunneling in container candle. This "tunneling" effect occurs when the wick is too small, causing uneven burning and wasted wax. Matching the wick size to the candle diameter ensures an even burn, maximizing the candle's lifespan.  Woodwick jar candle offer an effective solution to prevent tunneling, ensuring an even burn throughout. With their crackling wooden wicks and long-lasting fragrances, they provide a delightful ambiance for any space

Ratio of soy wax to fragrance oil

Achieving the ideal ratio of soy wax to fragrance oil is key to crafting superior scented container candles. Balancing these ingredients ensures optimal scent throw without compromising burn quality. Experimentation and precise measurements lead to candles that not only smell divine but burn evenly, delighting candle enthusiasts.

Colourful, White, Red, Pink jar candles...

Jar candles should embrace color diversity, not limited to white. Vibrant hues enhance visual appeal and complement various decor styles. Choosing colorful jars adds flair and personality to candles, making them standout decor pieces while infusing spaces with warmth and ambiance.

Knowledge: How to maintain the jar candle

Maintaining a container candle ensures both safety and longevity of the candle, as well as optimal performance and a pleasant experience. Here are some tips on how to properly care for and maintain your container candle:

Before Burning the Candle Jars

  1. Trim the Wick:

    • Before each burn, trim the wick to about 1/4 inch (6 mm) to prevent soot buildup and excessive flickering. A long wick can cause a high flame and produce smoke, which can lead to black soot on the jar.
  2. Check for Debris:

    • Ensure there are no matches, wick trimmings, or other debris in the wax. This can create uneven burning and pose a fire hazard.

During Burning

  1. First Burn:

    • Allow the candle to burn long enough for the entire surface to melt. This helps avoid tunneling (when the wax burns down the center, leaving a ring of unmelted wax around the edge).
  2. Burn Time:

    • Limit each burn to 3-4 hours. Burning for longer periods can cause the wick to move or become off-center, leading to uneven burning and potential jar damage.
  3. Place on Heat-Resistant Surface:

    • Always place the candle on a heat-resistant surface to protect the area beneath from potential heat damage.
  4. Keep Away from Drafts:

    • Avoid placing candles in areas with drafts, vents, or fans. Drafts can cause uneven burning and excessive smoking.
  5. Safety Precautions:

    • Never leave a burning candle unattended and keep it out of reach of children and pets.

After Burning

  1. Recenter the Wick:

    • After extinguishing the candle, if the wick has moved, gently recenter it while the wax is still soft. This ensures even burning for future use.
  2. Let the Wax Solidify:

    • Allow the wax to cool and solidify completely before moving the candle. This prevents wax from spilling and helps maintain an even surface for the next burn.
  3. Clean the container:

    • If soot builds up on the container, clean it with a damp cloth or paper towel. Avoid using harsh chemicals, which can leave residues and affect the candle's performance.
  4. Storage:

    • Store candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent discoloration and fading.

Long-Term Care

  1. Wax Level:

    • Stop using the candle when about 1/2 inch (1.25 cm) of wax remains. Burning the candle below this level can overheat the jar and cause it to crack.
  2. Reuse the container:

    • Once the candle has burned down, you can clean out the remaining wax and reuse the container for other purposes, such as storage or a new candle.

Cleaning Out Leftover Wax

  1. Freezing Method:

    • Place the jar in the freezer for a few hours. The wax will contract and can be easily popped out with a butter knife.
  2. Hot Water Method:

    • Pour hot (but not boiling) water into the jar. The heat will melt the wax, which will float to the top. Let it cool, then remove the hardened wax.
  3. Oven Method:

    • Preheat your oven to a low temperature (about 150-170°F or 65-75°C). Place the jar upside down on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil. Heat for a few minutes until the wax melts and drips out. Use caution and oven mitts to handle the jar.

By following these steps, you can ensure that your candle jar remains in good condition and that your candle burns safely and efficiently.
